At the recent Percona Live Online Open Source Database Conference 2021, Percona showcased its open source database as a service (DBaaS). As an alternative to public cloud and large enterprise database vendor DBaaS offerings, this on-demand self-service option provides users with a way to deploy databases quickly. Plus, the company says, using Percona Kubernetes Operators means it is possible to configure a database once, and deploy it anywhere.

IBM has the Tailored Fit Pricing for IBM Z—Hardware Consumption Solution, which it describes as a more standardized and transparent cloud-like hardware pricing model with combined base capacity and consumption priced capacity. IBM announced first-quarter 2021 earnings results. The company announced GAAP EPS from continuing operations of $1.06, Operating (non-GAAP) EPS of $1.77, and revenue of $17.7 billion. Systems (including Systems Hardware and Operating Systems Software) had revenues of $1.4 billion, up 4.3% (up 2.2% adjusting for currency), led by IBM Z.
