Scala Data Centers, a Latin American firm, is developing a new campus outside Mexico City, Mexico. The DigitalBridge-owned company announced plans to develop SMEXTP01, the company's first data center in the country. Scala's new site is projected to begin operations in Q4 2023 and is already anchored by a "large hyperscale client." The company said it will be investing $80 million in the project.

IONOS, a leading digitalization partner for small and midsize businesses, announced it is enabling customers of its Compute Engine cloud platform to deploy vCPU (virtual central processing unit) server instances in their virtual data centers. The vCPU option complements the high-performance dedicated instances previously offered exclusively, and now offered as the Dedicated Core option. Both variants are finely configurable in terms of the number of vCPUs or cores and RAM size. vCPU instances can, however, also be selected in pre-configured T-shirt sizes.
