Oracle has unveiled Oracle Data Integrator for Big Data to help make big data integration more accessible and actionable for customers. The goal with the new data integration capabilities is to bring together disparate communities that have emerged within the Oracle client base and allow the mainstream DBAs and ETL developers as well as the big data development organization to be brought together on a single platform for collaboration, said Jeff Pollock, vice president of product management at Oracle.

Teradata Analytics for SAP Solutions can now infuse near real-time data from SAP ERP applications into enterprise analytic and reporting applications. According to Teradata, the expanded capability can help organizations extract business value hidden within their ERP applications. "By providing access to integrated data in near real-time we're enabling our customers to make data from SAP ERP applications usable for business intelligence across the enterprise," said Scott Gnau, president, Teradata Labs.

Talend has introduced a new solution called Talend Integration Cloud to provide instant, elastic and secure capacity so IT teams can more easily shift workloads between on-premise and cloud environments. Targeted at SMBs, large enterprises, and IT integration developers, and planned for availability in April, the hosted cloud integration platform will provide a single solution for bulk, batch and real-time data integration across hundreds of data sources including Hadoop, Amazon Redshift and NoSQL databases, said Ashley Stirrup, chief marketing officer for Talend.

Oracle announced that fiscal 2015 Q3 total revenues were unchanged at $9.3 billion. Without the currency headwinds caused by the strengthening of the U.S. dollar, the company said total revenues would have been up 6% as measured in constant currency. "Oracle now has a cloud revenue run rate of well over $2 billion a year. We are already the world's second largest SaaS and PaaS company," said Oracle chairman and CTO Larry Ellison during a conference call discussing Oracle's third quarter financial results.

1010data, Inc, a big data discovery platform that combines a complete analytical platform with clients, is partnering with R to release R1010, a new R package that integrates directly with 1010data's platform. "R is a very popular programming language that allows analysts to do statistical analysis and modeling," said Sandy Steier, CEO and co-founder of 1010data. Hadoop distribution provider MapR Technologies has announced the results of testing based on the recently released benchmark for big data technologies from TPC (Transaction Processing Performance Council). The recently released TPCx-HS benchmark for big data technologies is a series of tests that compare Hadoop architectures across several dimensions. Cisco is also now reselling the MapR Distribution with Cisco UCS, as part of an agreement that includes marketing, sales and training worldwide.

"We also expect it to accelerate our revenue growth and to be accretive to earnings." The total purchase price is approximately $18 million, payable in cash and stock, with additional earn-out consideration based on performance milestones.

IBM has acquired AlchemyAPI, a Denver-based provider of cognitive computing application program interface (API) services and deep learning technology. The goal IBM says is to improve the development of next generation cognitive computing applications.
