Nitin Bandugula is product marketing manager at MapR Technologies where he leverages his engineering and business experience to help customers understand and benefit from the leading big data platform provider. Prior to MapR, Nitin served at SWIFT INC in various engineering, project management and consulting roles along side McKinsey and Co. He holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology and an MBA from the Johnson School at Cornell University.

NoSQL databases are becoming increasingly popular for analyzing big data. There are very few NoSQL solutions, however, that provide the combination of scalability, reliability and data consistency required in a mission-critical application. As the open source implementation of Google's BigTable architecture, HBase is a NoSQL database that integrates directly with Hadoop and meets these requirements for a mission-critical database.
