Campana Systems Partners with Kore Technologies to Offer UniVerse ETL/EAI Solutions to AAA/CAA Auto Club Customers
Campana Systems, a provider of integrated business and information management solutions for the auto club industry, is partnering with Kore Technologies. Campana will resell Kore's Kourier Integrator and SQL Accelerator products, to provide its AXIS customers with robust UniVerse data extraction and incremental update capabilities.
Kore Technologies has been expanding its offerings and is becoming involved with more partnerships, Ken Dickinson, managing partner and cofounder at Kore Technologies, told 5 Minute Briefing. “We actually found Campana through a couple of their customers who put us in touch with the company. We did a series of demonstrations and they recognized the strength of our offerings - and within weeks we had a partnership and the first project was underway.”
Through its AXIS Division, Campana has been a business partner to AAA/CAA auto clubs for over 20 years. The AXIS product suite consists of specialized toolkits in the areas of member relationship management, emergency road service, membership, travel, point-of-sale and financials. These toolkits, many of which can be deployed individually or combined to create a fully integrated solution, are used by auto clubs to deliver timely service, strengthen member relationships and increase product adoption.
Kore Technologies’ Kourier Integrator provides companies operating IBM U2 (UniVerse/UniData) databases with enterprise application integration (EAI) and extract-transform-load (ETL) capabilities. These ETL capabilities, combined with the automatic normalization of MultiValue data, and various export formats, will allow AXIS customers to extract data from any file from a UniVerse database or AXIS system for exchange/transport with other applications and databases. The integration and automation of these extraction processes ensures data consistency, eliminates redundant data entry and saves time.
Kourier Integrator offers advantages to organizations seeking to do data warehousing and reporting, observed Dickinson. “A common philosophy we have had here at Kore since its inception is that UniVerse-based applications have tremendous value, are extremely flexible, and can adapt to business needs,” he said. With the Kourier Integrator, said Dickinson, users can “retain the value of their UniVerse applications and then we move the data to a relational database such as SQL Server where there is a plethora of tools they can use to mine the data and build reports on - so they have the best of both.” Additionally, for CRM applications, where the challenge is moving data back and forth between applications seamlessly, Dickinson noted, Kourier Integrator is “best in class.”
Kore will also soon be introducing a new version of Kourier Integrator, version 2.0, said Keith Lambert, vice president of marketing and development at Kore. For more information about AXIS, go here. For more information about Kore Technologies, go here.

COA Solutions and MITS Partnership Enables Patient-Level Analytics
COA Solutions and Management Information Tools (MITS), have formed a partnership aimed at helping managers and theater [operating room] staff in healthcare organizations to manage their business units with greater efficiency. COA Solutions is a U.K. supplier of integrated business management and information systems. MITS is a U.S.-based provider of advanced reporting and business intelligence software. The MITS product line contains both the MITS Discover OLAP Business Intelligence suite as well as the ad hoc operational report tool, MITS Report.
With this partnership, MITS Discover (Standard Edition) analytics reporting tool is integrated into COA Solutions’ patient-level resource management system (PRM). PRM records and replenishes theater stock, replacing inefficient and costly paper-based stock management processes. With the tightly-integrated MITS Discover product, named PRM Analytics, users of the PRM system are provided with key information to support patient-level costing and ultimately service-line management.
“The PRM Analytics engine offers users a very simple, easy-to-use interface granting them access to a wealth of information,” said Coletta Vigh, Channel Manager from MITS, at the time of the announcement. “With PRM Analytics, users can analyze and report on every aspect of their organization's patient-level resource management, helping to produce service-line management reports and to address the challenges prevalent in many healthcare organizations.” For more about COA Solutions Ltd., go here. U2 University Off to Strong Start
U2 University in Sydney, Australia, has successfully concluded and IBM is looking ahead to the next events in the U.S. and Telford, U.K., Susie Siegesmund, director, U2 Data Servers & Tools, IBM Information Management, told 5 Minute Briefing.
“The reports from the team is that all has gone well,” Siegesmund said just as the event was ending, noting that there were “about 60-some” attendees who were pleased with the content and format of the event. All of the sessions were presented by individuals from a 10-member IBM team.
A key focus
of the event was to highlight new tools that have recently been
- or are soon to be – introduced. These included a new U2
Basic Developer Toolkit (U2 BDT). “This is a GUI developer
toolkit that has an integrated debugger, it does things real time,
and it is an Eclipse-based tool,” said Siegesmund. The toolkit
features a Resource Explorer, Dictionary Editor, and Code Editor.
“It is going to be a really good assistance for people in
developing and maintaining their Basic applications,” she
said.
A new GUI administration tool called U2 Extensible Administration Tool (U2 XAdmin) was also featured. “It is once again Eclipse-based and it is multi-paneled - so you can be watching different things at the same time on a console,” said Siegesmund. Additionally, a suite of MultiValue plugins for Visual Studio were spotlighted. The U2.NET products “were built using some of the technology that BlueFinity has in their .NET product - but this is optimized for UniVerse and UniData.”
There are three sponsors of the U2U worldwide this year, including OHM Systems, Entrinsik and MITS, said Siegesmund. Additionally, Meier Business Systems, an IBM master VAR, sponsored the welcome reception in Australia.
The next IBM U2U will be held in San Diego, September 15-18, followed by one in Atlanta, October 6-9, and one in Telford, U.K., October 27-30. “We picked Telford because it is in what the Brits call ‘The Midlands.’ London is a very expensive venue,” said Siegesmund. IBM wanted to choose a venue that is central to the U.K. and also cost-effective for the customer base, she explained. For more information, go here.

U2logic Announces XLr8 Resizer for UniVerse
U2logic, a leading U2 Eclipse tool developer, has announced the release of a UniVerse resize tool called XLr8 Resizer. “There hadn't been a new resize tool for probably 10 or 15 years in the marketplace,” Doug Averch, president of U2Logic, told 5 Minute Briefing. Xlr8 Resizer for UniVerse runs on Windows, Linux or Mac and will resize any UniVerse platform and will resize UniData, as well.
XLr8 Resizer is built as a plug-in for the open source Eclipse.org platform. Built from the ground up to run on UniVerse, the tool uses the native database programs to produce the data account by account. There are no installation programs or accounts for either database.
This allows a user to look at an account and see it all on one page “without having to download any software to your UniVerse or UniData account,” Averch noted. It displays information in an easy, intuitive way that allows database administrators or even those with limited knowledge of the database to see problem files. Additionally, Averch said, “It incorporates custom formulas - so you can customize it to your heart's content.”
The tool is available on a yearly subscription basis for a single workstation. Software updates are available from U2logic via the Update Manager in Eclipse, as new features are added. For more information about U2logic, go here. For more on Xlr8 Resizer, go here.
